What does the treatment entail?

- The site is first prepared and ready for implantation. This may mean removing further damaged or decayed teeth.

- Finally, you’ll be fitted with a temporary set of teeth worn until the implants fully stabilise in the jaw.
- Once the implants have stabilised (around 12 weeks), your temporary fitting is removed, and your permanent fixture is attached.

Is the procedure painful?
In a word, no! You will be under a local anaesthetic or sedation, so you shouldn’t feel any discomfort during the surgical procedure. After treatment, however, you may experience some discomfort, but this should easily be managed using over-the-counter pain medication like Ibuprofen or Paracetamol. Either way, I will give you full instructions on managing discomfort after surgery.
Can I use my new teeth as I would my natural teeth?
You will need to be a little careful with your temporary teeth until your implants stabilise, but once they have and your permanent fixture is fitted, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to use them like you would your natural teeth. That’s the beauty of implant-based restorations: they provide near-perfect bite solutions so you can eat what you like without restriction.
What about aftercare?
As with your natural teeth, effective oral hygiene is essential. So, a routine of brushing twice daily and flossing once is good. Don’t forget to use a good quality toothbrush to ensure you access all areas. You should also attend regular dental check-ups along with hygiene treatment to ensure your restorations remain long-lasting and your mouth stays healthy.
